FAQ

Who Can Enrol?

We do not have a restrictive catchment area and have previously had children enrolled from far and wide who didn’t want to miss out on the Mount Helena Community Kindergarten experience.

Applications for 2025 are due by Friday July 21, 2024. Please note that all applications received before the deadline are considered; acceptance is not on a first come, first served basis.

2023 Kindy Kids: We accept mid-year enrolments and have a few remaining places for (2023). Please contact us if you would like to join our lovely kindy community.

Does it cost more?

Voluntary contributions are set by the Department of Education. They are identical to those for on-site state school based kindergartens. Additional contributions may be requested to cover incursions or special items such as class photos. The parent committee hold fundraising events throughout the year, which are a fun and rewarding way to get involved in your kindy. This fundraising along with government funding, helps to ensure our kindys are very well resourced.

Are the teachers qualified?

Absolutely! Our teachers are employed by the Department of Education and have the same qualifications as all Kindergarten teachers in Western Australia. Community Kindergartens are managed by a parent committee in collaboration with the teaching staff. It is a team effort, focused on delivering a fantastic kindergarten experience for our children.

Do you have an information package?

We certainly do, please download you copy HERE.

How many kids are in each class?

Each class has a maximum of 20 kids, so why wait? Enrol now to ensure your child’s placement.

What are the benefits of Community Kindergarten?

Community Kindergartens are purpose built for kindy kids. They have playgrounds and buildings that are purpose built for kindergarten children. Located in stand alone facility, the day is not dictated by the wider school and siren. Choosing a Community Kindergarten does not impact your child’s acceptance to the local school for pre-primary.

Can I have a tour before applying?

Of course! Yes, we’d love you to come and have a look at our kindy.

What days does the Eastern Hills Community Kindergarten run?

We offer full days Monday to Wednesday 8:45am - 2:45pm, with every second week being Tuesday to Wednesday 8:45am - 2:45pm.

Do you offer Playgroup sessions?

At Eastern Hills Community Kindy & Playgroup we offer sessions through the schooling term on Thursdays - Friday 9:30am - 11:30am. We’d love to meet you so you’re welcome to pop in for a cuppa while the kids play. Your first trial session is on us!
